Mardi Gras - Sydney

Mike & I went to our first Sydney Mardi Gras Parade -- the biggest tourist draw to Sydney every year (even about NYE!) About 500,000 people attend the parade, even though this year's parade was a bit later than the normal Mardi Gras time, I think they delayed it because George Michael played the night before, but all the after parties are going on a week later. So, we joined the masses to line the streets (more than 10 deep) and wait for the parade.


First up are the bikers.





Mike & I had milk crates to stand on which gave us great views.


And then the parade began!


This year's theme was 'The History of the World'




We were at the parade with James & Lynda


I think the Surf Rescue crew was my favorite!









And my second favorite group was the water polo guys







And how great is a contingent of Scottish Kilts!



The casino's float is called "4 Queens Beat a Straight" - love it!
